About Franklin Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FRHA)

The Public Housing Program was created by the U.S. Housing Act of 1937.

The Franklin Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FRHA) was founded in 1963. Mr. J.R. Howerton was appointed the first Chairman by City Council on December 23, 1963.

Today, with a staff of 13, FRHA is dedicated to providing safe, decent and sanitary housing to low and very low income families, elderly and disabled, in an environment that fosters self-sufficiency and community pride.

The FRHA currently administers 150 units of Public Housing and 315 Section 8 Vouchers to families in the Franklin and Southampton surrounding area(s).

Homeownership for low income families is a new concept in the City of Franklin. FRHA was approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a homeownership program in early 2004.

Our vision is to be a leader in providing housing service, homeownership, urban development and revitalizing communities.
